The true life story of John Davidson. John was diagnosed with Tourette's at 15 and was labeled insane by his peers. He struggled with a condition few had ever seen. As an adult, he dedicated himself to Tourette's and received his MBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2019.

A powerful drama. The true story is moving and beautifully crafted by Jones. The film is captivating from beginning to end and depicts the development of someone with Tourette's at a good pace. Jones strikes a perfect balance between drama, emotion, and humor, making it a feel-good movie. The acting also contributes to the film's high quality. Aramayo, in particular, delivers a strong and believable performance. During the credits, some footage of the real-life characters appears, which completes the film. Highly recommended! 4.5

A solid five for this magnificent film, especially thanks to Aramayo's performance. It's a film with a laugh, where I always thought, "I'll laugh," but it's actually just awful. I also felt a tear welling up regularly. Schumacher says he doesn't think he's ever met someone like him. He's probably already met someone with Tourette's.

It's a personal matter, but I would have appreciated a bit more concrete information about this condition. For example, only 15 percent of people have Tourette's, and they swear and insult so much, but everyone thinks it's Tourette's. Many even have virtually no tics, but their brains are always overactive.

Tourette's is actually quite common, estimated at 1 in 100 people, but some people simply don't know it themselves and never will. For example, some who constantly clear their throat could be the result of Tourette's. The film was special for me because severe misophonia, which I personally have, has a strong overlap with Tourette's.

For me one of the best films of 2025....

The compelling true story of John Davidson, who was diagnosed with Tourette's at 15. Beautifully acted by Robert Ayamaro (and by Scott Ellis Watson at a younger age), it's often both funny and poignant. Kirk Jones's safe, conventional direction is less impressive, as are the (fortunately few) moments of sensationalism, but overall, this is simply a beautiful film.
