A grim, captivating horror mystery film in which director Stuart Ortiz achieves a great deal with minimal resources. Strange Harvest is presented as true and realistic, even though the content is often too bizarre to be true and even takes a imaginative turn towards the end. This last point detracts considerably from the film, especially when Ortiz essentially lets it end quickly. Furthermore, it's noticeable that there's a heavy emphasis on gory murders, clearly prioritizing sensationalism over a well-paced story. Fortunately, this doesn't detract from the fact that Strange Harvest remains captivating and entertaining.

A horror film about the atrocities of Mr. Shiny [Jesse J. Clarkson], who was responsible for a series of ritual murders starting in 1993. Structured like a sensational true-crime documentary with graphic photos, suspenseful music, and commentary from detectives involved in the investigation. Initially quite compelling, the editing tricks and the increasingly overacting cast detract from the film's form. Moreover, it takes a long time for the case to gain any momentum.
