Fifteen-year-old Jeanne escapes the orphanage where she grows up and explores the world. In a city, she is hiding in a barn when the Snow Queen appears before her. The barn turns out to be part of a set where the film adaptation of the fairy tale of The Snow Queen is being shot. Jeanne becomes fascinated by the actress Cristina who takes on the role of the queen. This cruel woman turns out to be just as mysterious and attractive as her character.

Very nice (again).
While there are slightly less overt fantasy elements, it's otherwise a very typical Hadzihalilovic. And what it lacks in true fantasy is effortlessly made up for by the atmosphere. The village itself is a kind of surreal place, a bit empty and uncomfortable, but incredibly atmospheric.
The story is basic, but the acting, cinematography, and soundtrack are fantastic. The music could perhaps have been a bit more exciting, but it still fits the atmosphere very well. He's still a very good director; he never disappoints.
