102 minutes is too long for such a documentary. Although I find his music okay, the person Elton John is less interesting to him. (Why do I watch then? Well, a song is nominated for the Oscars and then that film is on the watch list). Although I have to say that the personal moments, especially with his children, are the best. Or when he is busy making music. I found the historical parts less interesting in that respect and then the film is simply too long. Due to the variety of ways of telling still a pass. And the song is nice but you forget it again quickly. 3.0*.

Lots of beautiful music and great stories in this entertaining, if somewhat superficial documentary. A career of 50 years is of course also difficult to capture in a documentary of less than 105 minutes. Elton John looks back candidly while preparing for his very last concert in North America. A few too many side trips to less interesting events and certain periods are skipped completely. This would probably have worked better as a series.

I always find it fascinating how talented and extremely driven people achieve something, including the story of Elton John.

Too bad that, as was also mentioned here, periods were skipped, in the 80's he also released reasonably commercially successful albums, but it seems as if he himself does not find that whole period that interesting?

The story behind his family/sons is also not told, which I found a bit strange considering the role they play in his life.

Anyway, interesting until halfway but I found the ending a bit rushed and less relevant.
