Tom is a world-class problem solver who specializes in brokering lucrative payouts between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten their demise. He keeps his identity secret through meticulous planning and always follows strict rules. But when a message arrives one day from potential customer Sarah, who needs Tom's protection to stay alive, the rules soon begin to change.

Sarah [Lily James] uses his services because she has recently been laid off and her employer demands that she return documents containing sensitive information. She wants a substantial sum of money for this. What follows is an intelligent game of cat and mouse with Dawson's [Sam Worthington] shadow team, who want to get their hands on the documents for free. A thrilling, intelligently crafted thriller that takes an unfortunate, messy foray into action cinema at its climax. Unfortunately, things don't quite pick up after that, but until then, it's enjoyable, thanks in part to the excellent cast. Director David McKenzie is slowly but surely building a truly compelling body of work.
