Die Ironie des Lebens plot
Edgar is in his late 60s and is one of Germany's most successful comedians. In his program he mainly pokes fun at things that affect older people. Whether it concerns failed relationships, grandchildren, ungrateful children, declining libido, deteriorating health or death. But while on stage he is vibrant and a very outgoing man, after the show he becomes a lonely, sad man who fills his evenings with alcohol and groupies. After 25 years, he meets his ex-wife Eva again, who is now terminally ill. The two begin to grow closer again and Eva decides to accompany Edgar on his tour of Germany and Austria.
