Hubal plot

The film is based on a true story. In 1939, Poland is overrun by enemy forces. An officer and his remaining men then decide to continue fighting the invaders alone. They thus become the first guerrilla fighters of the Second World War.

Henryk Dobrzański alias Hubal actually deserves a better biopic than this. Writer Jan Szczepański already gave up because of all the changes in the screenplay ordered by the communist censors. What remains is the brotherhood between the partisans galloping through the beautiful Polish landscape and an unrequited love. Hubal was a gifted rider who participated in several Olympic Games before the war. But at some point you also want to see Germans. At least a few guerrilla attacks or sabotages It is still understandable that Hubal's battle against the Soviets is skipped. As mentioned, the major is not allowed to establish a relationship with Tereska and the story continues. Until the partisans in April 1940 are ambushed and Hubal's body is photographed as a trophy by the Germans.
