A hectic action comedy from France. Director and co-author Julien Hollande focuses on escalation. Already a few minutes into the film, chaos and bustle reign. And it remains that way. Two main characters who are after money. Now conspiring. Then again working against each other. Not very sympathetic main characters. Youssef is a shameless liar who lies about his origins, his profession and his beautiful hair. Stephanie is also someone who is not entirely open and honest and not exactly a character you can identify with.
The film is based on tense events and the humor of the over-stressed Youssef. Youssef is played by French comedian Nassim Lyes who co-wrote the script. Time and again his character makes a fool of himself, gets into trouble and tells ostentatious lies. It's not very refined at all. It's not all that surprising. Underlying aspirations cannot be recognised. Yet it does have something. The relentless chaos is not annoying. The accelerator pedal remains pressed continuously. The pace ensures that you have no choice but to go along with the trivial frenzy. Goal achieved, but it wasn't very entertaining.
