Teacher gets involved with a pushy student, and it usually ends badly. This is also the case in this Romanian film. The teacher teaches religion at a Christian school and is married to the local Orthodox priest, a rather authoritarian man. They have an adolescent son together, who also rebels against his mother. The teacher is not feeling well, receives little love within her family and little appreciation at her school. The boy she starts to feel something for has an unclear background and is not quite right.

So there's a lot of religion in this movie, and that never makes me happy. This is actually the case in more Romanian films. Apparently the Romanians need ideologies to hold on to. When the slip comes into public view, the woman's world collapses. You feel sorry for her, especially when you see how she struggles with that harsh society that abandons her rucksight. A heavy drama with an open ending.
