Psychosis plot

Cliff works in the criminal underworld and is approached by two drug dealers who claim to have been attacked by zombies. Cliff delves into the case and is faced with a bizarre and gruesome riddle. He is also reminded of his traumatic past and encounters a conspiracy. He finds a great challenge in Joubini against whom he has to compete.

A highly experimental film with a disjointed plot, the primary essence of which becomes rather tiresome after about 30 minutes. Psychosis is remarkable in that director Pirie Martin refutes the perspective of a main character who hears voices in his head, giving you the brief impression of going mad yourself. The abstract imagery and accompanying black-and-white filters contribute to this, but after a while the story weakens, and what happens next doesn't really matter. The unengaging characters fail to draw the viewer to the screen, and aside from a few isolated scenes, Martin fails to convey any convincing sense of menace, madness, or suspense. The second half, in particular, feels endless.
