In 2019, Sandra Pankhurst is an Australian celebrity who is a regular guest at conferences to speak about her special life story. Financially broke, she started volunteering in the late 1980s to clean what no one else wants to clean: homes that are filthy as a result of murder, suicide, collecting rage or other problems, among other things. Although she has developed a serious lung condition from inhaling all kinds of toxic gases, Sandra still personally runs her company, where people who often have traumatic backgrounds themselves find a special kind of satisfaction in this work. Pankhurst may be the central figure, but this is above all a poignant appeal to look back at the forgotten fellow human being and a tribute to a woman for whom compassion became the main driving force in her life. The latter is shown above all in Sandra's search for her biological mother, who gave her up at birth.
