Clean plot

Trauma cleaners clean spaces no one else wants to touch - homes of hoarders, meth labs, sites of murders, deaths and suicides. They clean the homes of society's most vulnerable people - the neglected, the lonely, the addicted and the mentally ill. When illness forces Sandra Pankhurst to leave her beloved cleaning business, she must confront her traumatic past and search for her biological mother. Meanwhile, her associates approach this difficult work with camaraderie and humor, bringing hope to their clients despite carrying trauma of their own.

In 2019, Sandra Pankhurst is an Australian celebrity who is a regular guest at conferences to speak about her special life story. Financially broke, she started volunteering in the late 1980s to clean what no one else wants to clean: homes that are filthy as a result of murder, suicide, collecting rage or other problems, among other things. Although she has developed a serious lung condition from inhaling all kinds of toxic gases, Sandra still personally runs her company, where people who often have traumatic backgrounds themselves find a special kind of satisfaction in this work.
