Television Event plot
In 1983, 100 million people see "The Day After," a TV movie about nuclear war. Those involved look back on the making of the film, the controversies and the effect on politics. Yet Republican President Ronald Reagan is also touched by the film and he screens it in the presidential country residence Camp David. In his diary he writes that the story makes him 'deeply depressed'. After his re-election in 1984, Reagan, possibly influenced by the film, changes his policies and works closely with Soviet leader Gorbachev to curb the nuclear arms race.
