Eismayer plot
Sergeant Major Eismayer, the most feared training officer in the Austrian army, has a secret he carefully hides: he is gay. When he falls in love with a recruit, his heteronormative existence is turned upside down. For a man like Eismayer, a homosexual relationship cannot be reconciled with the traditional understanding of what a soldier should be. Will he keep his image of a tough macho man or follow his heart? Is there a way to do both?

True-life drama follows the new recruits of the Austrian army who are drilled by Esmayer [Gerhard Liebman], who has a reputation for being very strict and demanding. One of the newcomers is Mario Falak [Luka Dimic], who is already treated as an outsider because of his Yugoslavian background and soon comes out about the fact that he is homosexual. The title probably already gives away which direction this is going. A theme that is as relevant as it is controversial, developed without moralism or sentiment. Unfortunately, the screenplay is quite superficial and Serafin Spitzer's camera work gives the impression that this had to be made quickly and cheaply.
