Marzhaye bi Payan plot

The story begins in Balochistan, in a small, barely "wired" village on the Iran-Afghan border. Ahmad is an exiled, idealistic teacher who teaches the local community; however, his partner Haseeba has served time in prison in Tehran for the same crime against the state. Their disagreement is not only social in nature, but also personal. Ahmad's fate intersects with that of a family on the run from the Taliban; the complex age and gender differences within that group will soon lead to other problems and complications.

Varied film about an exiled teacher who tries to teach in the border area between Iran and Afghanistan, while not only having to deal with his own problems (his wife is in prison) but also with the excesses of a patriarchal environment. The relatively quiet film gradually evolves into a hectic drama. The film is dedicated to filmmakers who are in prison in Iran for their work.

Impressive film. At the beginning it is all a bit unclear but after a while it all becomes clear and you get a glimpse into the patrician life in Afghanistan and Iran. What also makes it more understandable is the reason to flee to the west especially when it comes to the position of women.

In the sidebar above it says that Ahmed's wife is Haseeba but that should be Niloofar. Haseeba is the refugee from Afghanistan

Afghan teacher Ahmad Vaezi [Pourya Rahimi Sam] lives in exile in a border village in Iran, awaiting the release of his colleague (and lover) Niloofar [Minoo Sharifi]. He is targeted by the Taliban because they teach girls and are not afraid to criticize the regime. He risks his life by offering shelter to an Afghan family and decides to help Niloofar escape Afghanistan. A realistic portrayal of life along a heavily guarded border where intimidation is the order of the day, but Amini's direction is disappointingly flat and the drama of the story never fully comes into its own. Worth watching, but this could have been a much more compelling thriller.
