Lotto plot

Love, crime, secrets and dreams intertwine in this story about a close-knit community in a Georgian seaside town. Nothing is what it seems in the modulating rhythms of fate, shifting loyalties, and the ultimate reality that sometimes "neighborhood" really does mean "family." There's a melodramatic electric guitarist, teens suffering from unrequited love, a classical violinist in midlife crisis, and a recently returned felon. These fleeting glimpses lead to intrigue and tension as everyday life and the voyeuristic tendencies of the residents collide.

In a courtyard of old houses in a Georgian seaside resort, a mosaic of people live together: young and old, woman and man, rich and poor, sick and healthy, each with her/his own quirks. The film provides glimpses into every life in beautiful black and white images and thus exposes the differences, of which music is occasionally the embodiment: piano and violin for the older generation, electric guitar and headphones for the younger ones.

Not much happens and yet a lot happens, if you observe carefully. What life does this not apply to? Life in a courtyard as a metaphor for a society: sometimes entertaining, sometimes sad and poignant.

What a beautiful movie.

A Georgian film that provides an insight into a courtyard of several apartments and houses. Beautiful opener when the camera makes a turn of almost 360° where you see dormitories and houses, large and small, but especially the dilapidated.

Every house has its cross. No one escapes it. The interactions between all those people are fascinating. There aren't many sympathetic characters. The ugliness, individualism, love and misunderstanding of and between the residents comes to the fore.

Many characters and many different scenes, so the characters are not fully highlighted, but it does show how things are going. Nicely visually depicted, too, with that black and white.
