As a fan of Kelly McDonald I couldn't skip this movie of course - and then Gina McKee is in it too. Monica Dolan wasn't a familiar name to me, although she has 75 credits according to imdb including several movies I've actually seen - or maybe it's because of that wig.
The plot is one that normally wouldn't really appeal to me, and without the aforementioned reason I might have let the film pass. Still, it is certainly worth looking outside your beaten path every now and then, and this example proves that. Perhaps not pleasant or easy viewing, but surprisingly well and very honestly made.
