In October 2019, the houses of The Hague alderman Richard de Mos and The Hague city councilor Rachid Guernaoui were raided for alleged corruption. PowNed followed De Mos over a two-year period of uncertainty. Not only for him, but also for the residents of The Hague, not to mention the other municipal councilors who (understandably) do not want to form a coalition with a party whose leader (De Mos) is still under suspicion after the 2022 elections. De Mos and Atilla Akyol, an entrepreneur who is said to have played a key role in the corruption, do not mince words about what they have done and make some intriguing criticisms. It is up to the viewer (and the judge) to determine whether we are dealing here with naive, enthusiasts or sly creeps. In any case, it is nice to hear a politician who does not try to pretend to be better than he is. Joep Dohmen, the NRC journalist whose investigation led to the indictment, provides the balance. The title refers to a statement by an SGP municipal councilor in which he tried to articulate the situation in The Hague.
