In My Mother's Skin plot
As World War II draws to a close, a family lives in their mansion. They too are still plagued by the Japanese army that is losing its grip on the island. Rumors are circulating that the patriarch Aldo has stolen and hidden Japanese gold. Fearing for the safety of his family, he leaves the house to seek help from the Americans. While the mother falls ill, the fear that Aldo will not return is well established. Their daughter Tala also wants to help and she puts her trust in a carnivorous fairy.
