Ivanna plot

After the death of their father and mother, Ambar and Dika move to a nursing home owned by their parents' best friends. Not long after the move, Ambar, who has the ability to see mystical things, has a vision from the past. See how Ivanna, a Dutch woman, is tortured by Japanese soldiers and then beheaded. Director Kimo Stamboel takes a more relaxed approach and builds his film skilfully, allowing Ivanna to join his better horror projects. The visual ideas in particular are well presented, because the antagonist in particular looks frightening and creative. The characters are also sympathetic and the main figure in particular is provided with enough idiosyncrasy, which makes the film often unpredictable. This is combined with a run-up that takes up a little too much space and when it comes to tension the event is disappointing, but once the finale arrives that is quickly forgotten. Naturally, a Stamboel film often features rather energetic and loud interactions between the characters, but it still looks very controlled. The relatively long playing time of 103 minutes is never boring.
