Mediocre thriller. The story is not very surprising, although there is a nice twist because I actually had zero prior knowledge of this film. Furthermore, it is quite standard and predictable. But it remains interesting until the end and the film has some exciting moments, but it never becomes really nerve-wracking or nail-biting. The acting is just okay. Visually not very special. 2.5/3.0

Cold Meat

The story follows David Petersen as he travels through the Colorado Rockies. During a stop at a roadside diner, he saves waitress Ana from her abusive ex-husband. He then continues his journey alone through a dangerous snowstorm. An accident leaves him in a ravine in the middle of the storm. But the cold isn’t his only concern.

Outside of the opening scene and introduction, I found this to be a bit of a snoozefest. I didn't see the twist coming, but did it really make a big difference? Not really. I would have preferred a longer chase or something more active, especially since it crashed pretty quickly, instead of listening to two people talk for over an hour. When Ana tied up David, the tension pretty much disappeared.

The 'monster' was also not very impressive. It could have contributed to the tension, but unfortunately appeared too late and in only a handful of scenes. In terms of acting, I thought David was still reasonable, but Ana was less convincing. Visually, on the other hand, the film looked good.

In short, visually strong, but too much dialogue and too little tension. The twist was surprising, but solved little. The monster remained too much in the background, which made the film disappointing in the end

2.5 stars.
