Heartless plot

I often had to think of Lathimos' The Lobster (Film, 2015) with this print, in which social relations also acquire a different cultural dimension. The practicalities are not discussed too much and in that respect the film raises more questions than it answers, but I found it quite intriguing.
This culture takes the adage "7 fat years, 7 lean years" very seriously and therefore acts very preventively by simply redistributing existing relationships. Let this be annoying if the love is still as passionate as before or if you are suddenly put into a homosexual relationship. For others, on the other hand, about seven annual changes can be quite a relief.
