This Is Your Captain Speaking plot

Ten-year-old Asare was born in Ghana but has lived with his adoptive parents in the Netherlands for as long as he can remember. He wants to be a pilot and learn everything about the world. His Ghanaian music teacher Seydou is not only a special friend, but also his greatest source of inspiration with his stories about Ghana. When Seydou is expelled from the country because of his illegal status, Asare springs into action. Asare decides that he is going to adopt Seydou so that he can stay in the Netherlands, just like Asare himself. If adult reality catches up with Asare's plan, he risks losing not only his special friend, but also his innocent look.

In an idealistic way and from a child's point of view, a complex "adult problem" is solved here by outright posing what the problem actually is. Disarmed and with a look without judgment, three children try to keep their favorite music teacher in the country after his residence papers are no longer valid. Sounds like leftist sentiment, maybe it is, but it's all pretty well done. Not super high-quality, but nothing that needs to be broken down on a cinematic level.

It also often came down to the fact that adults still approach children as naive, simple or vulnerable, because telling the truth outright is also not an option. Not even that decency.
