Filming of the autobiographical book “Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies At The End” by Michael Ausiello immediately reveals the end, but the road to that denouement is far from the usual way. Ausiello [Jim Parsons] meets Kit [Ben Aldridge] in a gay nightclub and it's a case of love at first sight. These lovers must overcome obstacles, including Kit's fear of how his father [Bill Irwin] and mother [Sally Field] might react to us if he hasn't come out yet. The structure is definitely that of a 'sickness-of-the-week' film, but the way the main characters deal with the highs and lows in their shared lives has been brought to life with an authentic mix of drama and humor by a faultless cast. Parsons and Aldridge are perfect in the lead roles, but Field and Irwin are not inferior to them. So keep the handkerchiefs at the ready!

Nice film about two men who meet in a bar and fall in love with each other. A love drama in which the two main characters are quite well developed. Pretty standard all. The sitcom intermezzos are nicely incorporated into the whole. Sentimental here and there, but it never really gets too heavy. Just none. 3.5 stars.

A good and beautiful film with a bit of humor and ultimately of course drama.

Both men play well and the other actors are also doing well. Not too exaggerated.

Based on a true story.

I continue to find it special that apparently in the gay world it is very difficult to maintain a long-term relationship without cheating, arguing, therapy, etc.

They should make a film about my partner and me. We have been together for 19 years now. Still happy, no arguments, therapy or open relationship, just nice and dull (in a positive sense of the word) together. And I like it very much. Are we the only ones???
