Ta Farda plot

When her parents announce their visit, Iranian Fereshteh, the unmarried mother of a two-month-old daughter, is desperately looking for a nanny. That is easier said than done in strict Islamic Iran. Her best friend Atefeh wants to help, but is unable to take care of the child herself. Neighbors report her to the landlord. A lawyer friend has just been arrested, and a doctor tries to take advantage of the situation.

The film shows how difficult the lives of women are in Iran, at least of unwed mothers because they are treated as pariahs, and that is fine, but the story is too thin: it is all about carrying around a baby that has to are hidden from the mother's parents with an unsurprisingly somewhat feminist ending. The somewhat monotonous story is well told and the film has a few good scenes.

A film that reminded me of the Iranian short film Bacheh (Film, 2014). As so often in Iranian films, the unenviable position of women is highlighted. It is not really clear how the unmarried mother acquired her child, but the fact is that she is convicted by the Iranian system anyway.

When his parents come to visit, she has to hide the baby. It is striking that they are also unaware of the situation. The woman has great difficulty finding a solution and it is indicative of the situation in which the woman finds herself.

I like the Iranian films in which many directors criticize the system through film or highlight a vulnerable group. The films that reach us from there are hopeful and of very high quality. A strong story that makes you think about how obvious things are sometimes not obvious at all.
