Avarice is a movie from the Home Invasion genre. The word avarice was unknown to me. The word stands for greed. After the film you can say that greed covers the load for most characters. Apart from the sensational title, the film Avarice does not add any novelties to the genre. The film is quite flat and predictable and therefore contains little tension.

Only after fifty minutes a kind of cat-and-mouse game develops that provides a bit of excitement. The film contains no novelties I wrote earlier. Not entirely true, because the protagonist does not adopt a passive screaming attitude, but uses her bow and arrow very coolly in the counter-attack. I think director John V. Soto should have focused on the game of cat and mouse much sooner rather than boring his viewers with superficial attempts to invest in his characters. They remain flat and uninteresting at all times and bore with obligatory dialogues and unremarkable actions.

Despite all the chatter, no sympathy for the devastated family arises and the motives of the antagonists remain unclear. At most you could say that they act out of greed. A somewhat meager motive given the amount of time the film spends with them, but at least it explains the title

Some shocking twists follow and then the film fortunately ends quickly and the torment is over.

takes a while to get interesting.

just kidnapping actually to get money through the systems analyst or something.

the shots with the bow are, of course, much more spectacular than puff puff poof with a pistol.

Partly because of that, that actually makes the film not bad

therefore it is worth 3 stars.

actors are all unknown to me, but that should not spoil the fun.
