In the 1970s, Salvador Dalí married Gala, with whom he has a sexless relationship. Gala herself takes other men to bed and has great faith in her husband's creative talents. She becomes intrigued by the younger Jeff Fenholt, which makes Dalí jealous, who finds a muse in Amanda Lear herself. Meanwhile, his young assistant James wants to make a name for himself in the art world.

In 1974, former art student James Linton [Christopher Briney] meets frenzied, quirky artist Salvador Dali [Ben Kingsley] when he has to deliver a package for Dali's muse Gala [Barbara Sukowa] to a New York hotel. Dali immediately takes James into his following and this film shows the complex, fragile friendship between Dali and James until Dali's passing. In flashbacks, we discover how a youthful Dali [Ezra Miller] fell under the spell of Gala [Avital Lvova]. The screenplay is a mix of My Week With Marilynand The Factory Girl, so it has little to offer unless you're unfamiliar with Dali's unique personality. Entertaining, but not nearly as startling as the artist himself.
