Iki Safak Arasinda plot
Kadir is the manager of a linen factory owned by his father. He will soon meet the parents of his girlfriend Esma, although his own father is not yet aware of their wedding plans. For example, Kadir often has to find a balance between living his life and meeting the wishes of his family. When a worker is seriously injured in the workplace, Kadir must make a decision that impacts his family and the worker's wife.

My movie of the month for now. I'm not very Turkey minded when it comes to film, but this one was very strong. The film starts as it ends: with a shot of rotating machines of a linen factory and family business. Apart from the recurring deadlines and the small organizational inconveniences, all in all things are going well. Until an employee dies after an accident at work.
The film then revolves around the causes of the accident and who is responsible for it. You soon notice a kind of David-Goliath relationship. The company does not want to take the plunge and calls in a fancy tailor-made lawyer who wants to put forward the dirty laundry of the employee as the cause. Compensation money or hush money if you want to call it that is also part of the strategy, because you don't want to fight this out in the media or court. But in the opposite direction, not everything went according to the book...
The film is entertaining and captivating to watch. Not at all long-winded and stays fairly to the point. The limited playing time also helps. Excellent acting on an interesting theme and train of thought. I have already enjoyed it. The nuance also appealed to me to view the film fairly neutrally without choosing a side. Because after all, every party (with or without a fancy lawyer) will defend its own interests, just look at how insurance companies or banks work.

A fatal industrial accident leads to a dark social drama about manipulation, (lack of) ethics and remorse. The musical intermezzo during the family dinner is completely out of place in my opinion, but that must be intended for the Turkish home audience. The strong acting and the uneasy story make this debut by director/writer Selman Nacar an impressive whole.
