Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas plot

It has been eight months since Zoey and the rest of her family lost their father. Since Dad Mitch was always the one who created the Christmas memories that everyone looks back on fondly, no one is sure what to do with this Christmas. After a family talk, Zoey takes it upon herself to create the perfect Christmas, just like her father always did. Meanwhile, Mo gets into a lot of trouble when he tries to help out with a nearby Christmas show.

In the television series Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Zoey [Jane Levy] and Max [Skylar Astin] were given the gift of being able to “read” emotions in the form of pop songs. The soundtrack of this film version is an inevitable mix of Christmas classics and old and not so old pop songs. A week before Christmas, Zoey wonders how the family will get through the holidays after her father [Peter Gallagher] has passed away. She decides to invite her mother [Mary Steenburgen], her brother [Andrew Leeds] and her sister-in-law [Alice Lee] to discuss this. The comedy is very exaggerated, but fortunately screenwriter Austin Winsberg takes the serious undertones of this musical Christmas comedy seriously. The choice of music is pleasant, the execution is fine and the choreography by Mandy Moore is performed with great energy by an enthusiastic cast. A fine Christmas movie.

Mr. Chiel

I honestly didn't know this was a sequel to a TV series and didn't mind at all.
