Long ago, room 9 of the Johnson/Bedford Inn, located in a remote town, was the scene of a gruesome double murder. Decades later, when the town is once again terrorized by a series of bloody ritualistic murders, a mysterious woman named Star investigates and experiences bizarre flashbacks related to the murders at the inn. Director Thomas Walton has clearly built up a reputation in the horror world, because there are quite a few notable names within the relevant business. Unfortunately (but not surprisingly) they are not there because of their good acting talent, but the characters are not helped by the chaotic and unstable direction. The experimentation with the editing makes no sense, the camera work always shows the ugliest pictures and the practical effects have an extremely cheap impression. All in all, it makes for a whole that I could barely get through, but luckily if you don't pay attention for 10 minutes you won't miss much. The scenario keeps adding and expanding on new characters, only to more or less ignore and/or remove them. Structurally, the pace constantly slows down and speeds up, but with this messy direction it simply ends up being nothing. Rarely have I seen such a meaningless, useless project. Sometimes I really couldn't make sense of it.
