Forty-year-old Josefina has embraced the certainties of a life devoted to the Church and is only months away from making her eternal vows. But then she gets the news that her father has suddenly passed away. Her father was also a father figure to her fifteen-year-old nephew Alexandre, who now has no one to care for him. Josefina now faces the difficult choice of giving up her calling in the Church or abandoning Alexandre and failing to fulfill her duty to her family. However, a choice that becomes clearer the day Ângela, Alexandre's missing mother, suddenly returns.
