Mediocre work that only stands out somewhat in the increasing stream of AI films because of a number of eccentric characters. Now that I have seen quite a lot of these (AI, Ex Machina, Uncanny, Blade Runner to name a few) this is clearly one of the lesser ones. Visually it is occasionally a cheap Blade Runner clone but most sets are not interesting living rooms. The story is thin. This also makes it a slow affair. I suspect that Guy Pearce must have had somewhat higher expectations to get lost in this and the actors themselves still manage to make something of it but in essence it could all have been in 1 episode of a depressing sf series like Altered Carbon. Which I was not that crazy about either.

Fairly monotonous SF film that has a slow build-up with few action scenes and somewhat meandering towards the end. Somber film that also has little tension and in terms of decors / design does not meet the expectations regarding the visual aspect. Very simple and easy. Fortunately, some striking characters that make the whole thing somewhat digestible. 5/10
