Stylish dance with illusions!

I have to say that I haven't come across such an original film in a long time. Horror in its best form this; not in ostentatious massacres, scares or the sheer amount of bloodshed. However, it is indeed a suggestive horror that gets under your skin, especially now that we as a society are also dealing with a fairly hopeless situation in the current pandemic.

How nice is it then that there suddenly turns out to be a lush theater as a promise, in anxious times. The film also clearly has its classics, because if the main character sighs that it is all too good to be true then you can bet it will be. And it was by no means a spoiler, just a premise to gloat over your hands.

Extremely original, well thought out and I was really entranced by the unexpected plot. Very macabre story, with a beautiful stylization. Even reminded me of the wonderfully perverse ''The Cook, The Thief.....Lover'' Everything supported by beautiful, moody music.

Only the end and I mean mainly meeting the daughter again detracted somewhat from this film. Furthermore, really enjoyed it. Thick 4*

Very nice entry from Herdal.

Stylish mix of horror and mystery. The beginning ensures that you don't end up in some predictable niche, the rest of the film is a bit more daring, but because of the start there is never any clarity where the film wants to go. So smartly done.

Visually a gem, the soundtrack is also very beautiful. Beautiful location too, with some small details that quickly become iconic (like the masks). Herdal clearly aims for atmosphere and does everything to make it as tangible as possible. He also succeeds with gusto.

The further course of the film is rather simple, but since the mystery never really breaks, it just succeeds. In terms of horror, it remains reasonably well-behaved, but that's not really a problem for a film that aims at multiple genres. Just a very strong film by a young director, but that Netflix gives such people the necessary budget, it's great that the result is there, it's a shame that the average Netflix audience can't immediately appreciate it.

4.0* and a extended review

Wonderfully atmospheric and beautifully designed film. Acting was unlike what many here claim to do just fine in my opinion. The story isn't much, but it's still fun. Great entertainment and as far as I'm concerned there will be many like this on Netflix.

4*
