Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful plot
The story of German-Australian photographer Helmut Newton (1920-2004). From his childhood in limitless Berlin, to his artistic heyday in France. Investigating the feminine forms became his signature. His portraits, in which women were always the driving force, still raise questions: did he portray them as powerful subjects, or were they mainly the sexualized object of his male gaze? In addition to Helmut Newton's photographs, the documentary is interspersed with interviews with Grace Jones, Charlotte Rampling, Isabella Rossellini and widow June Newton, among others, about his life and legacy to photography.
