DreadOut plot
Jessica, Beni, Dian, Alex, Erik and Linda capture their adventurous escapades to share on their social media. This time they want to explore an abandoned apartment. One of the flats turns out to be shielded with a police tape, which arouses the curiosity of the friends. They break in and inadvertently open a portal to the supernatural world in the house.

Kimo Stamboel's previous film stood out positively in terms of horror, but he lets his energetic side go a little too much with DreadOut. The main characters in particular do little other than shout loudly and talk over each other, making it difficult to build an emotional bond with the base from an early stage. Once the horror kicks in, Stamboel picks up the pace, but ultimately the event bogs down in a series of loud noises, unimpressive demons and many imaginative ideas that do not exactly complement each other. There are a number of creative discoveries in between and the visual side looks very neat and varied, but Stamboel overlooks the idiosyncrasy that made his previous projects so much fun.
