Der Überläufer plot

Walter Proska, a young soldier in the Wehrmacht, returns to the Eastern Front in the summer of 1944. An encounter with the partisan Wanda and the friendship with fellow sufferer Kürschner gives him his doubts about the meaning of his task. Meanwhile, the Red Army is advancing further and the position of Proska and his unit seems to be becoming untenable.
