La Nave Bianca plot
During World War II, sailors aboard an Italian battleship correspond with unknown women on the home front, "le madrine di guerra". One of them exchanges his letters with a young teacher. A meeting between the two is planned, but when the sailor is about to disembark, the ship suddenly departs to engage in combat. The sailor is injured and is transferred to a hospital ship.
