County Lines plot

The term 'county lines' refers to the abuse of vulnerable children by using them as drug smugglers. Toni does not have the financial means to provide her children, fourteen-year-old Tyler and his sister, with a decent education. In addition, Tyler feels like an outsider at school and becomes easy prey for the crook Simon who offers him a job as a drug mule.

When mother Toni also loses her job, Tyler feels called to provide income.

I was not familiar with the "County Lines" phenomenon and was shocked by it. The film came across as realistic to me, with excellent performances by the main characters.

The film ends with "Up to 10.00 children as young as 11 are involved in County Lines acorss the UK".

Fiercely.

Quiet film, but rather raw and realistic. Furthermore, not really compelling or really convincing enough. Acting is fine but a bit *softy* for English standards in this 'genre'

*3+

Thick social drama with a message revolves around a fragile family. Toni [Ashley Madekwe] struggles to balance a job with caring for her 14-year-old son [Conard Khan] and her much younger daughter [Tabith Milne-Prince]. Losing her job and struggling with depression, Tyler is tempted to do some "errands" for endearing local dealer Simon [Harris Dickinson]. Things go from bad to worse both at home and on the street, although teacher Laurence [Anthony Adjekum] tries to save Tyler from the abyss. Played with conviction and has a shocking ending, but all in all too preachy to convince.
