Nice.

Special surprise actually. First of all because of the title. It appears in so many movie titles that I probably never noticed this movie before. Further; completely meaningless director for me, even though he has managed to build up a nice oeuvre. Considering personal taste, not that strange: Star Wars is not for me and probably neither is the rest.

However, I think this early film by this director is a great film. Late seventies mix up of US and UK horror with a nice retro atmosphere, entertaining plot and solid acting. 6.5/10*

Americans Katherine Ross and Sam Elliott go on holiday to Europe and are very kindly offered a cup of tea and an overnight stay in a beautiful English castle, but getting away again proves to be a lot more difficult. A few other guests will also come, including Charles Gray and Roger Daltrey, and then there is that old sick man somewhere upstairs...scary all over again, a bit of Hammer atmosphere and just wonderful old-fashioned seventies horror. Sleeping again tonight with the light on.

Successful film with a strong creepy atmosphere. A couple of American interior designers receive a large advance of money for a project in England. Once there, after a traffic accident, they are taken to Jason Mountolive's estate to wait for their motorcycle to be repaired.

The trump cards are not played immediately, so it is not immediately clear where everything is going. Always good to do it this way. That also ensures that the film remains quite exciting. The characters are ominous, especially nurse Adams. Also featuring a role for Roger Daltrey, the frontman of The Who.
