La Tare plot

Anna is rescued from a Paris dance hall and goes to work at a charity hospital. Over the years, she works her way up to head of the institution, but when an old dance hall client recognizes her photo, he tries to blackmail her. When she refuses to give in, he publishes a letter in the newspaper and the locals who are part of the hospital's board demand her resignation.
