Jan Sierhuis, Zelfportret plot

In this documentary, while painting his last self-portrait, Jan Sierhuis looks back on his eventful and colorful life. Sierhuis grew up under difficult circumstances in the working-class neighborhoods of Amsterdam, but eventually became one of the leading Dutch expressionists of the twentieth century. Despite the enormous international success that Sierhuis enjoyed in the second half of the twentieth century, his work has faded into the background in the last twenty years.
