Who was Hitler? Almost everyone can answer this question in general, because Adolf Hitler characterized the twentieth century with his terrible dominance as a National Socialist "leader" in such a terrifying way that his name is unknown to anyone. He is one of the most hated and infamous figures in recent history. Filmmaker Hermann Pölking, however, shows in 'Wer war Hitler' that more than 70 years after the end of the Third Reich and after his death, the 'phenomenon' Adolf Hitler has not been fully discussed. For this reason, he has compiled an extensive collection of archival material, which also includes many non-public sources. Against the background of the social environment of the first half of the 20th century, Pölking sheds light on the life story of Hitler and offers us a contemporary interpretation.
