Vazante plot
Brazil, 1821. Like many compatriots, mine owner Antonio left mining behind and started raising cattle. He lives on an estate with a group of slaves. When his wife and child die during childbirth, he decides to marry Beatriz, his wife's 12-year-old niece. Antonio is very busy with his livestock and leaves his wife with the slaves. Determined to find her place in the community, Beatriz manages to get rid of the balance of power marked by violence, intimidation, assault and miscommunication.

The strength of the film is that it is very believable: you really imagine yourself in Brazil in 1821 and the film seems to portray the real life of that time, both that of the black slaves and the whites and the mutual relationships between the two. The film is already successful and satisfying. The story is also believable and nice; However, you can see the climax coming from a mile away and it ends unsatisfactorily. The film also lacks fluidity. In short, the film is beautiful and fascinating, but the story is not told very well.

Because, narratively, the film is very slow and long-winded and somewhat too neglected by the cinematography. Likewise, the characters are too stylized and therefore come across as unreal. Yet I believe that a reasonably accurate picture of life in Brazil two hundred years ago is given, despite the fact that the work on the land also remains somewhat underexposed. Chapada Diamantina, Brazil, 1821. After his first wife [Dinah Feldman] dies trying to give birth to a son, cattle driver António [Adrian Carvalho] takes Beatrix [Luana Tito Nastas], the daughter of his brother Bartholomeu [Roberto Audio], as his wife, even though she is not yet sexually mature.
