Charlotte's Song plot
Dust Bowl, 1930. The untimely death of Charlotte's mother sends her father and her five sisters into a downward spiral. Their singing and dancing act also suffers. Help comes from an unexpected source when a mobster named Randall offers to pay off their debts in exchange for some changes to the family business. Things get complicated when Charlotte is found, like her mother before her, to be a mermaid who controls people with her voice. A battle ensues in which the various camps try to take advantage of Charlotte's power.
