Batoru Rowaiaru II: Chinkonka plot

"This time it's war."

Three years after the events of 'Battle Royale', Shuya Nanahara is an internationally known terrorist bent on overthrowing the government. His gang 'Wild Seven' consists mainly of survivors from previous 'Battles Royale', and has been active in planning terrorist attacks for the past three years. When there is an attack on buildings in Tokyo during Christmas, including the twin towers of the 'Tokyo Metropolitan Government building', causing 8,000 victims, people point the finger at 'Wild Seven'. The government in turn tightens the anti-terrorism law and orders the creation of the new 'Battle Royale 2' program. They send a class of high school students to hunt and kill him on an island.

Just good enough to watch it, but still below average. The film wants to bring a variation of part 1, but completely lacks the feeling and atmosphere that the first film had. You also have less of the feeling that it is students who want to kill, because they all wear such an army suit. No murderous schoolgirls, just soldiers who you know will die one by one and one or more will survive. Also all machine guns and no separate weapons like part 1. The teacher is also very bad acting here, and nobody shoots out of the students either. A miss and much worse than its predecessor.

The first part kept me sitting on the couch

and the sofa did not get warm with this one.

Although the action was good, there was always (too much) a link with the first part

which at one point really came out my throat ... not to mention it

drama circus with every death that fell .. and there were many

Not bad ... but just not

Compared to the first part, this is really a hefty setback. While the idea is nice, the execution is disappointing. I didn't feel anything for the students, I didn't care what would happen, who would die and how it would end. Too bad, because in the first part I would have liked to see that more, that curiosity and the 'more'. Film naturally tends more towards a 'war story' than pure, palpable tension. A lot of banging, a lot of deaths, a lot of screaming and a lot of posturing, and that's it. Acting was much less and very forced. Now I'm not really familiar with Asian cinema, but I'm starting to believe that the latter is just part of it.

Too bad, I was really looking forward to it after seeing the first part.
