Jim is a sixteen year old boy from Wales. A real loner, who is a bit odd. His comrade Michael has left him for cool friends. Jim's mood doesn't improve when his dog dies. But then the older and interesting Dean moves in next door. An American. His whole life changes.

Roberts is responsible for the screenplay, direction and the lead role in this stylishly filmed black comedy, which, however, misses the mark in terms of timing. Jim [Craig Roberts] is the dork of his class until Dean [Emile Hirsch] shows up in his life. That gives him the confidence to make an effort to win over the popular Michelle [Sai Bennett], but that is obviously easier said than done. Wonderful camera work by Richard Stoddard that is reminiscent of Wes Anderson's work, but Roberts fails to approach Anderson's style of comedy with a straight face, no matter how hard he tries. There are plenty of jokes, but they kill too often.
