The Battle of the Sexes plot
On September 20, 1973, tennis player Bobby Riggs and tennis player Billie Jean King played a match against each other known as 'The Battle of the Sexes'. Billie Jean King beat her male colleague in three sets. Riggs, 55, was the former number 1 in the world. He regularly proclaimed that women would never be able to play tennis as well as men, because they were simply too weak for it. Bobby Riggs had won in two sets against Margaret Court on May 13, 1973 and after this match he challenged 29-year-old Billie Jean King.
