A good film that runs smoothly.

I was instantly drawn in by murder number 1. The murders aren't explicitly depicted, but otherwise, they look pretty good. The acting was definitely good. And the area where it all takes place looked really good. 3.5.

Indeed, it's more of a horror/thriller, with a well-built story leading up to a climax that's not really that surprising, but is incredibly enjoyable. The reason is that you somehow hope the killer won't be caught. The killer looked really cool, by the way. The story also captivated me, even though you quickly figure out what's going on. Tension and atmosphere are more important here than the kills. I thought the final scene with the motorcycle at the end was a masterstroke that perfectly captured the ultimate desperation of the police chief. The scene afterward in the car where his colleague plays a huge prank on him is also fun. 7/10

Saw it on the new UK Warner Archive Blu-ray. A Section 2 Banned Video. Nasty, that's how I found this film.

How this one ended up on the nasty list is a mystery, because you see precious little, even in this fully uncut version. I watch a slasher for the kills, and if they all happen half-off-screen, there's little to enjoy. I did laugh at that final motorcycle chase, though. The "suspect" was still in the backseat of the police car: I really need to pee! Yes! Just pee out the window!.

Luckily the Blu-ray was cheap and I can cross another one off the Section 2 collection.
