Well I'm a mess. Before starting I didn't realize I didn't already know him but kept looking. And I know why. Powerful character play is performed on a number of manageable meters. A very nice film to watch (again).

Reasonable film about a girl who witnesses a murder and flees from the killer. A simple and sometimes monotonous setup (a cat and mouse game that takes place almost in one house). Still, the whole thing looks easy. Mainly because of Thomas Jane and Laurence Fishburne who give their somewhat predictable characters enough flair for a narrow 3.0 stars. The film is certainly not too long.

Orphan girl Bird [Ella Ballentine] witnesses a liquidation at a remote funeral and photographs the face of killer Sade [Laurence Fishburne]. Bird manages to escape and flees to the also remote, dilapidated home of Carter [Thomas Jane], a war veteran embittered by a traumatic event. Although Carter doesn't know the girl, he is determined to protect her, even though his only weapon is a shotgun with only one cartridge. The result is a deadlock in which Sade and Carter both have reasons to believe that time is working in their favor. The situation becomes more dire when a young cop [Jim Watson] on patrol suspects something is amiss. Although the film is largely set in one location and the protagonists are so injured that they can hardly move, Alleca manages to keep the suspense strong through strong dialogues that form the basis for a psychological cat-and-mouse game. As the ruthless hit man, Fishburne gets to steal this suspense thriller, but Jane and Ballentine also do an excellent job for the nail biter.
