Echoes of War plot
Texas after the Civil War. Two neighboring families mourn tragic losses as they struggle to survive. The McCluskeys run a ranching business, having lost both a son and their entire herd to the war. The Rileys mourn the loss of the woman while Mother Mary is seriously ill. They try to make ends meet by catching animals alive and then selling their fur. When Seamus Riley's brother-in-law Wade returns from fighting for the Confederacy, he soon discovers that Randolph McCluskey and his family are stealing the animals they've captured. He decides this is unbearable and takes matters into his own hands, so that yet another tragic and pointless war erupts.
