The young Jesuit Roberto is given the task of taking care of Flora, the eight-year-old niece of a count. He travels to a remote coastal estate run by the housekeeper Mrs. Antonia. Things are going well at first, but when Flora's brother Mikel is expelled from school and moves back to the estate, strange things start to happen.
